What is Outdoor Education?

Outdoor Education programs are designed to be interdisciplinary, experiential, and student-propelled; meaning the students are the center of the learning. Their questions and answers help to facilitate the conceptual learning. The staff is there to creatively facilitate the discussion toward the desired concepts and ideas.

Outdoor Education uses games, discovery, exploration, activities, and simulations to teach ecological concepts. Each program is designed to be a careful mix of science, activity, hypothesizing, and reflection. The active schedule, lesson variation, and hands-on learning format cater AOTE programs to youth of all ages and learning styles.
